The Ridge Meadows Royals improved their regular season record to 13-7 by sweeping a double-header Sunday from the Mid-Island Mustangs by scores of 3-2 and 7-3.
In the first game, Spencer Stewart took the hill and was very sharp, allowing only two runs on four hits in six and two-thirds innings. Brett Snowball came on in relief and picked up the win. The game was tied heading to the bottom of the seventh before the Royals loaded the bases with no one out and Jarad Beckett ended it with a walk-off single up the middle.
In the second game, four Royals’ pitchers combined to allow only three hits to the Mustangs en route to a 7-3 win. Bigelow and Lucas Tillotson each reached base three times Beckett chipped in with a pair of hits and Brandon Sound drove in a pair of runs.
The Ridge Meadows Royals extended their winning streak to four games on Tuesday night with a 6-0 victory over the Tri-city Indians in Port Moody.
Nathan Kitamura took the mound and was very solid in allowing only one hit and needing only 66 pitches to get through six innings. Brett Snowball pitched a scoreless seventh to preserve the shutout.
The bats were led by first baseman Jarad Beckett, who went 4-4 with two doubles, three runs scored, and an RBI. Brandon Sound also had a solid day, going 2-2 with a double, 2 RBI, and was hit by a pitch twice.
Thursday the club will travel to Richmond to face the Chuckers for the fourth and final time this season before returning home to Albion field June 8th for a game against Chilliwack. Pictures from the game are in my 2010 Baseball/Softball folder while more information about the Royals can be found on thier website at http://www.ballcharts.com/teams/index.php?team=ridgemeadowsroyals.
